The Culver City Council is expected to take a big step toward permanently banning new drive-thru fast food joints in the city.
City council members are expected to vote Monday night to extend a moratorium on drive-thrus that was approved last month to block the construction of a new In-N-Out on a vacant lot at Sepulveda and Sawtelle Boulevards.
The ban would not affect existing drive-thrus in the city, including fewer than 10 drive-thrus that are already in business.
One person who spoke with KNX News’ Jon Baird said they were against the In-N-Out coming in.
“Too much congestion and traffic for sure in that specific area wouldn't be a good idea,” they said.
But another person said they’d love to have one close by.
“I understand the argument against [it],” they said.” Personally, I have to say my love of the hamburger is gonna outweigh.”
The vote could extend the moratorium for another 10 months to give staff time to draw up plans for a permanent ban.
