Dave Chappelle talked about the frightening attack that he suffered on stage during a live show at the Hollywood Bowl in May 2022.
The comedian recalled the incident in his latest Netflix special. KNX News’ Craig Fiegener reported that Chappelle had to watch a video of the attack to understand what happened.
Chappelle said the person pulled out what was thought to be a gun.
“So he pulled the trigger and it wasn't a gun. A knife blade popped out of the front because this kid was going to stab me,” Chappelle said.

He said Jamie Foxx was the first to run to his rescue, followed by Jon Stewart. Chappelle said the suspect then tried to make a getaway, but Puff Daddy blocked him.
The suspect, Isaiah Lee, pleaded no contest to battery and entering a restricted area. He was sentenced to 270 days in jail. Lee told the Post he was offended by Chappelle’s jokes about homelessness and LGBTQ issues.
It’s still unclear if Lee had a ticket to Chappelle’s show at the Hollywood Bowl.
