Actor Dev Patel attempted to stop stabbing incident in Australia

ADELAIDE, Australia (KNX) – Actor Dev Patel attempted to stop a knife fight between a man and woman in Australia Monday night, according to multiple reports.

The actor, known for his roles in 'Slumdog Millionaire', 'Lion' and 'The Green Knight', was with his friends in Adelaide when they witnessed a fight between a man and woman. The actor and his friends tried then intervened.

“Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and de-escalate the situation and break up the fight,” his representatives told Metro.co.uk. “The group was thankfully successful in doing so and they remained on site to ensure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived.”

The woman reportedly stabbed the man she was fighting with and was arrested. The man was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital, according to 7news.com.au. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Patel’s representatives told the outlet that despite the actor’s help, there were “no heroes” in this story and that the situation.

“This specific incident highlights a larger systemic issue of marginalized members of society not being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve,” they said.
