Some travelers at LAX were left stranded on Monday after a life-threatening winter storm sweeping across the U.S. prompted the cancellation of flights.

KNX News’ Craig Fiegener spoke with one traveler who has been stuck at the airport for a few days.

“I've been sleeping on the floor,” he said. “I didn't bring enough money to help me through these few days, and now I'm paying for it.”

The man added he hasn’t heard anything from the airlines.

“I was kept in the dark,” he said. “Nobody says anything. I'm trying to stay warm. The floors are cold, you know. I got my bag, using it as a pillow and moving from spot to spot, just trying to stay warm until I can get out of here.”

There was another pair of travelers who also had to spend the night at LAX.

“We were flying from Houston, Texas to L.A., and then we had a connecting flight from LA to Sacramento, and we got like a 4-hour delay, and so we missed our connecting flight, and so we had to spend the night here in L.A.,” she said.

Another traveler said her flight was rescheduled.

“Our flight was supposed to come at 12:33 a.m.,” she said. “We got rescheduled at 1:41. This morning, we went to TSA to try to at least get through the gate. They're closed.”

Nationwide, thousands of flights have been cancelled. Flightaware says LAX has cancelled more than 200 flights.
