Girl and grandfather stabbed in Sunland, suspect in custody

A 10-year-old girl and her grandfather were stabbed in Sunland on Friday morning.

It happened in the 10300 block of Eldora Avenue. According to multiple reports, the grandfather was about to take the girl to school when a transient, whose family lives in the area, attacked them without provocation.

The suspect then drove off with the grandfather's car, but ditched it about a mile away. He was later taken into custody.

A neighbor told KTLA that the girl was stabbed in the arm, while the grandfather was stabbed in the neck and an arm. He also said the man has caused problems in the area in the past.

The suspect’s father told CBS LA that his son suffers from mental health issues.

Both the grandfather and the girl are reported to be in stable conciliation.
