Half of the 210 Freeway was shut down in Glendora after a truck driver was shot early Friday morning.
According to CBS L.A., a man called for a tow on the freeway. When the tow truck driver arrived, the two men got into an argument. Then the man shot the tow truck driver and took off.
California Highway Patrol officers chased him to a gas station in Covina. The man got out of the car with a handgun, and then officers opened fire.
“The party was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” a CHP officer told reporters.
A gun could be seen on the ground nearby after he was taken away by ambulance.
No officers were hurt. The tow truck driver is in critical condition.
CHP issued a Sig Alert at 3:43 a.m. that all eastbound lanes on the I-210 west of Grand Ave. will be closed. The alert was cancelled just after 12 p.m.
