To help celebrate National Cookie Day, Subway will be offering customers at select locations a footlong cookie that will launch nationwide early next year. And they're not alone in the deal-offering business today, the most hallowed of internet holidays for cookie lovers.
Subway shared the announcement in a press release, noting that the new cookie will be offered free to customers as long as they also purchase a footlong sub or while supplies last.
The locations offering the cookie are in Chicago, at 604 S. Wabash Ave., Suite D; Dallas, at 1222 Commerce St., Suite 150; Miami, at 2795 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; and New York City, at 545 8th Ave.
The four select locations will be transformed from Subway into Cookieway from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time on Monday only, the fast-food chain shared.
Also for National Cookie Day, college-student approved Insomnia Cookies is offering free cookies at its 250-plus locations through Monday, according to the company. Cookie lovers can choose from snickerdoodle, peanut butter chip and chocolate chunk, and more.
Plus, Potbelly customers can get a free cookie with the purchase of any entrée - a sandwich, whole salad, bowl of soup or Pick-your-Pair, and Circle K customers can get a free cookie using the CircleK app at participating locations.
As for the footlongs, Subway said it already sells more freshly baked cookies than any other restaurant company in the United States.
The chain offered the footlong cookies at a pop-up in Miami for last year’s National Cookie Day, and they were sold out within two hours.
Paul Fabre, senior vice president of culinary and innovation at Subway, shared in the statement that the pop-up’s response has led to the cookies being brought back full-time.
“At Cookieway this year, our guests will get a sneak peek of an even better footlong cookie: thick, gooey, packed with chocolate chips, and served warm – right out of the oven,” Fabre said. “It’s the perfect pairing with your favorite footlong sub and may even become your favorite footlong after the first bite.”
Despite the footlong cookies only being offered at select locations, Subway is still giving you a reason to stop by this cookie holiday, as every cookie sold through the end of this year will support the Subway Cares Foundation.
Rewards members can also get a free cookie with the purchase of a six-inch or footlong sub.
