Iran’s attack on Israel over the weekend has prompted law enforcement in Los Angeles to increase patrols around local religious sites.

On Saturday, the Los Angeles Police Department released a statement on X that while there are no credible threats at this time, the department is keeping an eye on “houses of worship and sensitive areas.”

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department also released a statement that deputies would be increasing patrols as well.

Security expert Paul Viollis told KNX News’ Jon Baird that increasing patrols isn’t enough and that we need more law enforcement officers to deal with these issues around the country.

“With the reduction of bodies and people in law enforcement, we're not staffed the way we should be, Jon, in order to investigate this aggressively as we need to be that's the bottom line,” he said. “But we need to up that part. That's the part we need because we don't want to respond to an incident, we want to avert the incident.”

Over the weekend, Iran launched over 300 drones and armed missiles toward Israel in response to an Israeli that hit Iran’s consulate in Syria.
