L.A. County Public Works is working to clean up mudslides and rockslides caused by the historic storm.

Kerjon Lee, L.A. County Public Works spokesperson, said they’ve got road crews throughout the region working on the cleanup. He said there’s mudflow causing closures in the Antelope Valley, but that the overall system is working well.

“We're out with patrols 24/7 through this storm,” Lee said. “So, you know, even last week, you know, working with other agencies and collaborating, we are on the field, we're out there knowing where those locations are that are potentially vulnerable. The key for this storm was community vigilance and preparation.”

He said they have the personnel and resources they need to keep up with the storm.

“This is our Super Bowl. So we're prepared for this season, and actually, we've done a wonderful job of capturing that stormwater,” Lee said.

They’ve captured 815 million gallons so far with just this storm and 15.8 billion gallons overall, he said. Public works has been able to capture this much rain because of the severe weather and because they’ve created more capacity within the 14 major dams over the past three years.
