LOS ANGELES (KNX) – According to an LAPD spokesperson, two people were in custody Wednesday concerning the burglary of Rep. Karen Bass’ home.
Last Friday, the L.A. mayoral candidate said in a statement that two handguns were stolen from her Baldwin Vista home. Other valuables such as cash and electronics were not taken, Bass said.
Bass told KTTV Channel 11 on Wednesday that she came home to find her house a mess. KTTV was the first to report that the suspects were in custody.

According to Bass, the guns were registered and kept in a lockbox that was “stashed” in a closet.
When asked how safe she feels in her neighborhood, Bass told KTTV she “did feel safe, until my safety was shattered.” A stark contrast to a previous response Bass gave during a debate earlier this year, saying, “I do feel safe. I would say a 10,” “I feel safe, but I do understand that a lot of people around the city do not feel safe, and I respect that.”
Bass met with LAPD detectives Wednesday, and they shared with her that “a couple” of people had been arrested in relation to the burglary. “That’s basically all I know at this point,” she said.
