A website Tuesday issued a list of airports with the worst wait times for international travel during the holiday season and Los Angeles came close to winning another title, however dubious.

Orlando International Airport, which handles far fewer international travelers during the holidays, took first place and Los Angeles International Airport, which accommodates the third most international travelers during the holidays among major U.S. airports, had the second-longest wait time, according to the website Upgraded Points.
Among the 41 major international airports tracked, Orlando had an average wait time of 32.7 minutes, while LAX recorded an average of 30.3 minutes.
Upgraded Points used U.S. Customs and Border Protection data for travelers passing through immigration and customs during the 2024 winter holiday travel season from the week before Christmas through the New Year holiday to calculate its rankings.
"In 2025, international travel has moderated from the post-pandemic surge, but the holidays still draw heavy demand," according to Upgraded Travel. "As a result, travelers should continue to expect busy terminals during the winter holiday travel season."
The website advises that choosing a "quieter" arrival time can reduce wait times, but "picking the right airport will have the largest impact."
LAX officials did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment on the ranking.
