Damon Eugene Bluthenthal was reported missing on Dec. 24 and his body was found around 11:40 a.m. on Dec. 29, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner reported his cause of death was suffocation by plastic bag and listed the manner of death as homicide. His autopsy also found he had multiple sharp force injuries and had hydrocodone and methamphetamine in his system when he died.
Bluthenthal's body was found in a vacant lot between Artesia Boulevard and the rear parking lot of the Metro/Artesia Blue Line Station, an area the medical examiner's office described as a "waste ground" south of the station.
Detectives urged anyone with information about the death to contact LASD Homicide Detective Gail Durham or Sgt. Frank Alvarado at 323-890-5500.
