Man shot to death while walking his dog in Mid-City

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A 52-year-old man was gunned down while walking his dog early Saturday morning in Mid-City and now police are looking for his killer.

The victim was walking his dog around 5 a.m. near the corner of Genesee Avenue and Saturn Street, when a dark sedan approached the northwest corner of the intersection and stopped, according to police.

The suspect exited the car and exchanged unknown words with the victim before the gunman fired multiple shots at the man, police said.

The suspect got back into the vehicle and fled north on Genesee Avenue. The victim was discovered by a passerby who called 911, police said.

The dog was uninjured during the incident and returned home on its own, police added.

The man died at the scene and his identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The motive for the man’s murder is being investigated.
