New investigation launched into 'horseplay' shooting of Pasadena police officer
Pasadena Police Department

A new investigation has started into the 'horseplay' shooting of a Pasadena police officer.

Chief Gene Harris said that after the video of the shooting was released last week, a witness came forward with new information.

While he did not go into specifics about the new information, all the officers involved are on leave pending the outcome.

The incident happened in September in the police department parking structure. Video from an officer's car shows another officer pointing a gun at the car as a joke. The officer then put his gun down and was shot in the shoulder by the officer in the car.

Harris said the officer who fired the shot is no longer with the department and that the officer who was hit has since recovered.

He also said that L.A. County prosecutors were given a criminal investigation.

It's unclear whether charges will be filed.
