Nick Reiner made a court appearance on Wednesday, but the case has been delayed.

KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian reported that the defense said they’re still waiting on evidence, and prosecutors added they’re still waiting on autopsy reports, with more discovery expected soon.

Reiner is charged with the December 2025 murder of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner. He pleaded not guilty and remains in custody without bail.

Reiner is set to be back in court on September 15 for another preliminary hearing setting.

Last week, the couple’s other son, Jake Reiner, posted a lengthy tribute ot his parents on his Substack.

“Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time,” he wrote. “It’s too devastating to comprehend. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it’s not a dream. This truly is my living nightmare.”

Reiner ended his post by asking for love and compassion, adding that it was “the same principles my parents lived by.”
