As Mexican-Americans are preparing for “Day of the Dead” celebrations this weekend, a special altar is up in Pasadena for Eaton Fire survivors.

The altar is located outside La Fiesta Grande on E Glenarm St. Camerina Delgado Carrillo, whose family owns the restaurant, said the altar not only honors her family’s loved ones and their homes that were destroyed in the Eaton fire.

“You really lost the momentos that you had,” she told KNX News’ Karen Adams. “The things that you can't replace, and that's kind of what we're honoring for our families and for our customers and our neighbors and our friends. “

Carrillo and her family have also teamed up with LA Fire Justice to help families, especially Latino families, in the recovery and rebuilding process in Pasadena.

“We want to encourage people to come and share their story through pictures, through knowing that we're all going through this really hard transition of mourning the loss of our lives and our homes, and trying to inspire ourselves to start something brand new,” she said.

People can come by the restaurant and put their picks on the altar now through next Friday, with the exception of Monday.
