LOS ANGELES (KNX) — One person died Wednesday after being trapped beneath the tracks at a Metro construction site, officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The situation was reported around 5:20 p.m. at 711 S. La Brea Avenue in the Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles.

"Firefighter-paramedics made access to the patient in an area of the Purple (D) Line under construction and, sadly, found that the patient was deceased," LAFD said in a statement.

No other injuries were reported, and the department did not disclose how the person who was found dead came to be stuck beneath the tracks.

An investigation into the death is ongoing, LAFD said.
