A Long Beach woman and her eight-month-old fetus were killed in a road rage incident that led to a three-car collision on Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Long Beach Police Department said in a press release that officers responded to Long Beach Boulevard and 52nd Street for a reported injury traffic collision at 11:36 a.m. At the scene of the collision, officers found a GMC pickup truck with a man, a pregnant woman and a 10-year-old child. All three sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Police said the female passenger in the GMC, who was eight months pregnant, died from her injuries. Her fetus also died following the crash.
The police investigation revealed the driver of the GMC was speeding on Long Beach Boulevard when he was involved in a road rage incident.
The second driver in the road rage incident tried to get away. The GMC then struck a Toyota Corolla, which was not involved in the initial incident, as it was pulling away from the curb. The driver of the GMC then lost control of the car and struck and an unoccupied pickup truck north of 52nd Street.
The driver of the GMC, identified as 26-year-old Miguel Larios, was booked on “two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, one count of driving under the influence and one count of child endangerment.” His bail was set at $200,000.
Long Beach police have asked anyone with any additional information on the crash should contact the department’s Collision Investigation Detail Detective Joseph Johnson or Kelsey Myers at (562)570-7355.
