VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KNX) — The suspect accused of shooting a nine-year-old girl at a mall in Victorville on Tuesday has been taken into custody, according to police.
He has been identified as 20-year-old Marqel Cockrell, co-owner of sneaker store Sole Addicts at the Mall of Victor Valley.

According to the Victorville Police Department, Cockrell was chasing two shoplifters out of his shop when he fired multiple times at them. The shots missed and struck the child, police said.
Cockrell fled the mall after the shooting at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police said. He was later found by Nevada Highway Patrol at around 9 p.m.
Cockrell was booked into Clark Cunty Jail in Nevada on an extraditable warrant for attempted murder, with bail set at $1 million.
The young victim was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center after suffering several gunshot wounds to her arm as she waited in line to take a photo with the Easter Bunny Tuesday night. She is expected to recover.
