
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KNX) — Police Wednesday were searching for a gunman suspected of shooting a nine-year-old girl at a mall in Victorville Tuesday evening.
The shooting occurred at roughly 7 p.m. at the Mall of Victor Valley, located at 14400 Bear Valley Road. Family members said the victim was shot multiple times in the arm. According to media reports, she was standing in line to take a photo with someone dressed in an Easter Bunny costume when the attack occurred.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department confirmed a girl was shot inside the mall, then transported to a local hospital where she was reported to be in stable condition.
Authoroties said they believed the shooting was an "isolated incident" and there was no active shooter situation in Victorville. The mall was temporarily evacuated and closed down Tuesday evening pending an investigation.
A suspect description was not immediately available Wednesday morning.
