Victor Villa started selling tacos from his grandmother’s front yard. Now, his brick-and-mortar restaurant on North Figueroa Street, Villa’s Tacos, was added to the California Michelin Guide and received the Michelin Bib Gourmand award.
So what makes the food so special? Villa told KNX News’ Margaret Carrero it’s all about the love they put in the food.
“It's about the love and the high-quality ingredients,” he said.
“You could put all the same ingredients that we're putting together and they still wouldn't taste the same because the hands that are making it aren't the same whether it's making tortillas, whether it's putting the place together, doing the prep, making the sauce, chopping the meats, grilling the meats. We just do it to the best of our ability. We do it with a lot of love.”

He said that since the restaurant opened, he focused on making sure every single guest who came in had a great experience.
“What I focused on is making sure every single of those 40,000 people that came to visit our restaurant left with a great experience just like the one inspector must have had,” he said. “… This weekend we might have another 1000 people coming and nothing is going to change. You know, the experience that the inspector had is the same experience that all these people that are waiting in line right now are going to have.”
Villa added that as long as you’re all in on your dream and giving it your all, you’re already a winner.
