Dina's Dirt for December 18, 2024

The lie Macaulay Culkin told his son about "Home Alone"

Jason Kelce didn't have much positive to say about a recent "Jason Kelce Lookalike Contest" held in Pennsylvania. During "Monday Night Football Countdown," he said, "Newsflash, any overweight white guy with a beard looks just like me, what are we talking about? It's an easy competition. There is absolutely nothing unique about any of these gentlemen other than they are large people with beards and they are of Caucasian complexion."

Kim Kardashian played a key role in helping a New Jersey woman get released from prison after serving 25 years. Dawn Jackson was sentenced for fatally stabbing her step-grandfather in 1999, a man she claims had been sexually abusing her since childhood. Her public defender advised her to plead guilty to first-degree murder, but her history of abuse was never presented in court. Kim had been advocating for Dawn's release since 2018 after receiving letters from her. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy commuted Dawn's 30-year sentence, allowing her to go free five years early.

On "The Jennifer Hudson Show," former First Lady Michelle Obama revealed the hardest member of the family to buy gifts for was none other than her husband, former President Barack Obama. She said he doesn't do much except golf, and asked how many golf balls does one guy need?

Kieran Culkin won't let his kids watch "Home Alone," not yet anyway. Kieran, who played cousin Fuller in the movie, said, "There's still some scary parts. For the 3-year-old, there's the tarantula [and] there's the guy at the end who said, 'I'm gonna bite off all your fingers.' That's scary for a 3-year-old." Macaulay, on the other hand, has already let his three-year-old Dakota son see it, and he has Dakota convinced that he played Macaulay's part. He told his son, "'Remember you had yellow hair? Remember when you were getting the bad guys?"

By the way, Macauley recently told an audience at a screening of the film that he thought about buying the home that was the center of the movie franchise "just for giggles." He said he had no plans to move to Winnetka, Illinois but instead wanted to turn the home into a "movie fun house" where people could reenact scenes from the film. Ultimately he passed because, "I got kids. I'm busy, man."

Kristin Chenoweth, the original Glinda from Broadway's "Wicked," celebrated passing the baton to Ariana Grande with a heartfelt gift on the set of the "Wicked" movie. Kristin surprised Ariana with matching pink custom Glinda jackets as a "little physical memento of our 'passing of the wand,'" adding that she was happy to guide Ariana down "the yellow brick road — or any road."
