Billy Joel bouncing back from a hard fall
Billy Joel is recovering well from his fall on stage on Saturday, February 22, at Mohegan Sun. Here's what happened… At one point during a song, Billy threw his mic stand for fun, but it caused him to lose his footing and he landed on his side hard. The band helped him up and he continued the concert. On eyewitness claimed Billy was using the microphone stand as a cane during the rest of the concert. Despite being 75, Billy's not ready to retire, saying, "What else am I going to do? Stop doing shows and sit around, and watch TV, and turn into a vegetable? No. I don't want to do that."
As is tradition, Oscar weekend kicked off with the annual Razzie Awards, a recognition of everything in Hollywood in the last year that was less than stellar. Sometimes winners are offended; sometimes they roll with the joke, as Francis Ford Coppola did this year, winning "Worst Director" for "Megalopolis." He posted his "appreciation" on Instagram saying, "I am thrilled to accept the Razzie award in so many important categories for 'Megalopolis,' and for the distinctive honor of being nominated as the worst director, worst screenplay, and worst picture at a time when so few have the courage to go against the prevailing trends of contemporary moviemaking!" On a positive note, the "Razzie Redeemer" award (given to a past Razzie winner who had an exceptional performance in the last year) was given to Pamela Anderson for her role in "The Last Showgirl." Here are the big "winners";
Worst Picture - "Madame Web"
Actor - Jerry Seinfeld - "Unfrosted"
Actress - Dakota Johnson "Madame Web"
Supporting Actor - Jon Voight - "Megalopolis," "Reagan," "Shadow Land" & "Strangers"
Supporting Actress - Amy Schumer - "Unfrosted "
Director - Francis Ford Coppola - "Megalopolis"
Screen Combo - Joaquin Phoenix & Lady Gaga - "Joker: Folie à Deux"
Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel - "Joker: Folie à Deux"
Screenplay - "Madame Web"
Razzie Redeemer - Pamela Anderson - "The Last Showgirl"
The Oscars happened this past weekend. "Anora" was the big winner with four awards, and other big winners included Kieran Culkin, Zoe Saldaña, Adrien Brody, and an upset with Mikey Madison winning best actress over Demi Moore. But arguably, the best part of the night came from the opening sequence featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo singing a medley of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," "Home" (from "The Wiz"), and "Defying Gravity."
