Britney Spears made headlines over the weekend for lighting up a cigarette mid-flight on a charter plane. In an Instagram post, she confirmed the incident, calling it an “incredibly funny” story and explaining, “[I] said I want a cigarette so bad !!! My friend put it in my mouth and lit it up for me so I was like OH SO THIS IS A PLANE WHERE YOU CAN SMOKE !!!” Authorities met her when the plane landed, and while she initially thought it was a warm welcome, she later realized it was about the smoking. Britney seemed to think the flight attendant wanted to embarrass her saying, “I thought [it] was kinda much but she didn’t like me the moment I got on [the] plane.” Still, Britney added, “I do so apologize to anyone I offended.”
On “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Miley Cyrus revealed she got a “brutal” infection while filming a scene for her “Something Beautiful” film because she was rolling around on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Miley said didn’t have the budget to rent the iconic walk so she just went to shoot it when the streets were dead, in the middle of the night, when the sidewalk was still dirty from the 27,000 or so people that walked on it that day. Because she had been rolling around on the ground, she ended up with an infection that basically caused her knee to start to “disintegrate.” She explained, “To have a surgeon look at you and say, ‘Yuck’…they see inside the guts of humans, [and] they’re looking at me telling me I’m disgusting.”
Lilo & Stich” won the box office during the four-day weekend, pulling in a massive $183 million in its debut, which is now the largest four-day Memorial Day weekend opening of all time. Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” debuted in second place with a haul of $77 million, giving it the best opening weekend in the “Mission Impossible” series. Horror movie “Final Destination: Bloodlines” slipped to third place with a take of $24.5 million during the holiday weekend.
By the way, moviegoers at a screening of "Final Destination: Bloodlines" in Argentina ended up with part of the ceiling in the theater falling on top of them. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt. That’s really taking a 4-D movie experience to the next level.
