Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s highly public divorce has intensified as Turner has sued Jonas in order for him to return their two children back to her in England.

According to a recent lawsuit filed in a Manhattan court and obtained by PEOPLE, Turner has demanded "the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained.” The suit is in reference to the former couple’s two children Willa (3) and “D” (14 months).
According to reports, Turner and Jonas settled on England being the children’s "forever home" during conversations that happened in winter 2022 ahead of the couple purchasing a home there in April 2023.
Following the purchase of the home, the couple allegedly agreed to have the children temporarily reside in the US as they toured with Jonas due to his schedule being more accommodating than Turner's while filming Joan.
The couple’s divorce came fast and strong following an argument on August 15 according to reports, followed by Jonas filing on September 5. Now, according to the lawsuit filed September 21, Jonas has had a change in heart about the kids living in England and “refuses” to return them to Turner.
"The Father has possession of the children’s passports. He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother,” documents read.
The turbulence surrounding the custody of their children comes weeks after the pair took to social media to confirm rumors of their divorce had had been swirling.
The joint statement each shared via their separate Instagram accounts read, “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Jonas and Turner got married at a surprise Las Vegas ceremony in 2019. The two welcomed their first child together, daughter Willa in 2020. The pair had their second child in July of 2022.
