A magical scene unfolded Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, as Steph Curry broke the all-time 3-point record in front of his family, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller and the rest of the basketball world.
Sure, it was only a three-and-a-half minute timeout, but it was a historic moment that was deservedly savored by Steph, who was overcome by emotion and had to use his jersey to wipe away tears.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr asked Curry if he wanted to sub out of the game, but the star stayed in. Kerr relayed more details about the historic night on his weekly appearance with 95.7 The Game’s “Damon & Ratto” Wednesday afternoon. Listen to the full interview above.
Curry’s big moment also has Kerr thinking about another special date on the horizon for the franchise.
“Last night was unbelievably special,” Kerr told hosts Damon Bruce and Ray Ratto. “I think Klay’s return will be even moreso, when he comes back – whenever that is the next few weeks. Can’t wait for that to happen.”
Klay Thompson’s absence was also noted by longtime teammate Draymond Green on Tuesday night. The beloved guard Thompson was back on the West Coast rehabbing with the Santa Cruz Warriors and was resigned to FaceTiming his teammates.

Warriors president and general manager Bob Myers on Tuesday told 95.7 about Thompson's recovery and said there hasn't been internal discussion about a return date yet.
Kerr said he wishes Thompson could have been there to celebrate with his Splash Brother and Co.
“The missing piece of last night was Klay and his presence, what he has meant to the Warriors, what he’s meant to Steph’s career, what he’s meant to the 3-point shot in the evolution of the NBA game," Kerr said. "Klay should have been there. I thought about him a lot last night. It just bummed out just thinking about how much he has lost the past couple years. Not just in terms of games played, but experiences with his teammates.
“Last night was a special moment. I know he would have loved to have been there. The fact that he missed it is painful for him. We can’t wait to get him back. That’s going to be the next special moment in this season.”
