The Warriors have offered some worrying news out of Salt Lake City, Utah. As first reported by ESPN, Warriors assistant coach, Dejan Milojević, 46, has been hospitalized following a medical emergency at a team dinner.
The following statement was provided by the team:
“Assistant coach Dejan Milojević was hospitalized last night in Salt Lake City, Utah, after suffering a medical emergency at a private team dinner. An update on Milojević’s status will be provided as appropriate.”
Milojević is a well-liked member of Golden State's staff who has been with the team since 2021. He had a 15-year playing career in Europe before becoming head coach for Mega Basket of the Adriatic Basketball Association — where he was a three-time league MVP as a player — in 2012.
He coached for Mega Basket — coaching 11 future NBA players including Nikola Jokić — for eight years before joining Montenegrin club Budućnost in 2021, where he won the Montenegrin Cup and league championship before joining the Warriors.
This story will be updated when updates are made available.
UPDATE: The NBA announced it would postpone the Warriors' scheduled 6 p.m. PT contest with the Utah Jazz following Milojević's hospitalization. The NBA says that a new date for the rescheduled game will be announced at a later time, confirming that the game will not be held Wednesday night.
