For the first time in his NFL career, Deshaun Watson is no longer a teammate of Texans legendary edge rusher J.J. Watt.
The Texans and the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year agreed to part ways, both announced Friday morning.
It officially marks the end of an era, almost 10 years since the Texans drafted Watt with the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Watson wrote a tribute to Watt on social media Friday, calling him one of the greatest of all time and crediting Watt for his work and as a person.
Texans safety Justin Reid thanked Watt for "showing me a map for what it takes to be GREAT!
Texans defensive end Charles Omenihu, who enters his third NFL season in 2021, thanked Watt for his mentorship.
While this was expected, the finality of it turns attention to the franchise quarterback, who has requested a trade from the team.
