ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - One of the area's favorite locally owned restaurant groups will be doing a lot of good this month, but they need your help.

All month long, all Sugarfire locations will be using 50% of the sales from Specials sold on Tuesdays in the area to help out some of their favorite local Black-owned restaurants that have been financially affected by the pandemic.

On Thursday, they were able to give out their first donation. They gave a "tip" of $1,000 to C&K BBQ in north St. Louis County. They say they'll be visiting more Black-owned restaurants throughout the month to drop off more donations.

"For those who don’t know, C&K Barbecue was established in 1963 and has helped pave the way for BBQ in St. Louis," Sugarfire stated. "Sadly, one of the owners, Daryle Brantley, passed away last year, making 2020 even more difficult for the family-owned and -operated business led by his wife Jeanette, who was there running the show today with her daughter."

The company says they're hoping to make these tough times brighter for local restaurants struggling amid the pandemic.

"We know the money we gave isn’t life-changing, but we believe a little neighborly love can go a long way. After all, love is the only way forward," they said.

There are eight Sugarfire locations in the greater St. Louis area, including downtown, Olivette, Valley Park, St. Charles and Edwardsville. Find the nearest location to you, here.
