The list includes Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Maná, Oasis, OutKast, Phish, Soundgarden and The White Stripes. Of these 14 nominees, only about half will earn a spot after being voted in by an international panel that includes more than 1,200 artists, historians and music industry players. Additionally, there is a fan-voted element, that will play a part in the final tally.

Eight of the artists vying for a spot are first time nominees. To be eligible, and artist must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior.

The final class will be revealed in April and inducted into the Hall during the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony scheduled to take place in Los Angeles this fall.

Last year, Mary J. Blige, CherForeigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Matthews Band and singer-guitarist Peter Frampton were inducted.
