Just in in time for another storm and Drink Wine Day: Winter wine, food and Netflix pairings

Another winter storm is headed our way promising anywhere from two to ten inches of snowfall throughout Connecticut.

In addition to the impending storm, February 18th is "Drink Wine Day." So what better way to celebrate the snow day and wine day than to combine the two and add some binge-worthy TV? That makes one fabulous bacchanalian treat!

If you get 2 to 4 inches: The snow is light and airy, fun and playful just like Champagne. Pair your champers with a bowl of buttery, salty, popped-on-a-stove popcorn.

Once you get your popcorn and bubbly ready, then cozy up with some binge-worthy TV. We suggest Firefly Lane on Netflix. Firefly Lane is a twisty-turny mystery that's also a heartfelt story of friendship and sisterhood. Firefly Lane is a great showcase for Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke (a pair of actors as bubbly and fun as our Champagne/popcorn pairing), who star as lifelong best friends in a story that skips through the decades.

If you get 5 to 7 inches: Medium snow falls call for a medium bodied wine. A French Burgandy does the trick beautifully along with some tasty roast chicken. Minimal fussing required (especially if you buy the rotisserie bird fully cooked) and perfect for leftovers.

Pair the Burgundy and chicken with Netflix’s  Buried by the Bernards — a surprisingly energetic and entertaining trip behind the curtain of what's usually a solemn business. It’s the funny bone meets the wish bone (see what we did there?)

If you get 8 to 10+ inches: Ok, this is a heavy snowfall. You’re gonna want to break out the carbs so you’ll need a wine that can handle the combo — Brunello and Lasagna. Yum. Drool. Indulge your pasta craving with this messy yet contained dish perfect for a lazy, snowy day.

Pair your wine and pasta with some good old fashioned comfort baking television like Nadia Bakes on Netflix. Hosted by Great British Baking Show standout Nadiya Hussain, the half-hour series is a burst of good energy with some knockout recipes that bring Nadiyah's signature spin on more traditional deserts along with the radiant charisma that made audiences root for her as a GBBS contestant.

If you just can’t decide: Riesling.

It’s the perfect go-to if you wanna order Chinese or Thai or destroy a plate of cheese and crackers after kayaking in the snow. (Yes, it’s a thing now.)
