Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - In Waterbury, two people are being charged after police say a child sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns last month.
The police special victims unit launched the investigation on October 24th after receiving a report from St. Mary's Hospital.
Under arrest is the child's mother, Keturah Williams, 36, and her partner Damon Martin, 51.
Police say the two were caring for the six-month-old at the time of the incident.
The child was later taken to Connecticut Children's in Hartford.
Police say the little one rolled off a bed and onto a hot electric heating element.
Investigators say the suspects delayed seeking medical attention for the baby because the two had consumed alcohol and drugs which investigators say led to the delay in getting help.
Both are facing charges of risk on injury, impairing the morals of a child, and cruelty to persons.
Martin's bond was set at $150,000.
Williams is being held on $75,000.
