The State of Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Bucacci's cause of death was blunt injury of the neck.

During the investigation, Zachary Perkins, 33, admitted that he assaulted Bucacci and delayed calling 911 emergency services, officials said.

Police applied for an arrest warrant for Perkins and arrested him on Tuesday.

Perkins has been charged with 2nd Degree Manslaughter, Cruelty to Persons and 3rd Degree Assault, authorities said. He was arraigned on Wednesday.
