West Hartford, Conn./WTIC - High prices for gasoline and air fare aren't stopping Americans from getting away from it all for the Memorial Day holiday.

With gas well over $4-a-gallon and air fares up 40-percent you'd think people would stay put.
Not so, says AAA.
The motor club says 39-million Americans will travel at least 50-miles and nearly two million New Englanders are planning a holiday getaway.
Greater Hartford AAA spokeswoman Amy Parmenter says pack your patience, especially with the amount people expected to hit the roads.
She says keep your speeds down and wear your seatbelt.
Parmenter also says to avoid becoming a statistic, make sure your vehicle is in good working order beforehand.
And if you're flying, get to the airport early to deal with security and other potential delays.
