Bicyclist dead, man held in East Windsor crash

East Windsor, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man is under arrest in East Windsor after police say he struck and killed a bicyclist with his vehicle on Wednesday.

It was around 4:30 p.m. when police say Waldemar Serrano-Acevedo, 34, of Springfield, Massachusetts was driving along South Main Street northbound when he hit the bicylist traveling south in the northbound shoulder.

The victim, Samalier Rivera-Tirado, 32, of East Windsor, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say Serrano-Acevedo remained on scene and failed subsequent field sobriety tests.

He was arrested and charged with a number of violations, say police.

Bond was set at $1 million.

The crash remains under investigation.
