FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A Farmington police officer was hospitalized after he was hit by a stolen vehicle fleeing the scene of an apparent catalytic converter theft before dawn Monday.
The officer was trying to make contact with the suspect at an address on Talcott Forest Road shortly before 1 a.m., when the suspect struck and pinned the officer against his cruiser, police said.
The fleeing vehicle crashed into the woods just up the street and the driver fled, officials said.
Police were looking for one, possibly two suspects, they said.
The injured officer was being prepped for surgery at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. Police described his injuries as serious but not life threatening.
The suspect vehicle had been stolen out of Middletown, according to police.
