Bolton, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Office of Inspector General says a state police trooper was justified in the use of force in an incident last year in Bolton.
Troopers were called to a home on Meadow Road March 1, 2024 on a report of a man, identified as Maxim Nowak, armed with a pair of hunting knives.
Trooper First Class Brian Contenta opened fire on the suspect, who refused repeated commands to drop the knives, the report says, and appeared as if he were going to throw a knife.
Nowak sustained injuries to his hand, chest and abdomen.
Contenta and two other trooopers, as well as the suspect's parents, were not hurt.
The report goes on to say that TFC Contenta's use of force was reasonable to protect himself and others in the home that day.
