The call came in shortly before 9:00.
Officers say they had received several reports of a student possibly in possession of a handgun.
They are terming it an active investigation at this point.
A statement issued by the school superintendent says students and staff are safe and the building is currently in lockdown.
Police are advising parents who are compelled to respond to report to Centennial Plaza.
