Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Governor Lamont is running for a third term.
Lamont indicated he plans to file the paperwork for another run later Friday.
The governor will turn 72 in January.
Lamont had been cagey about seeking another term up until this point.
Right now the only Democrat who has announced a run is Hamden state Representative Josh Elliot.
On the Republican side, state Senator Ryan Fazio of Greenwich has announced his intentions to seek the party nod.
Outgoing Republican New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart is also exploring a gubernatorial run.
