Ansonia, Conn./WTIC Radio - Ansonia police are investigating an apparent murder/suicide.
Police were called to a home on Westfield Avenue around 5:00 a.m. Thursday.
They say a man identified at Yanis Tavarez, 47 of Bridgeport, shot his ex-wife, Miguelina Lebron, 45.
Lebron died at an area hospital.
Tavarez was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The victim lived in Ansonia with the couple's three children.
Detectives say Tavarez was residing in Bridgeport.
Ansonia Police Chief Wayne Williams said it's another tragic case of domestic violence.
The chief said victims need not suffer in silence and that help is available through their local police department and domestic violence agencies across the state.
