Millions expected to hit the roads this Thanksgiving weekend

Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The great holiday getaway is underway.

We haven't seen a Thanksgiving exodus like this in a few years, thanks to the Covid pandemic.


But AAA says the numbers should be about what they were before it struck.

About 55-million Americans are traveling at least 50 miles from home.

Around here, it's about 2.5 million in New England with 600,000 Connecticut residents getting out of town.

The vast majority will drive.

The motor club's Tracy Noble says whereever you go this weekend, make sure the vehicle is running right.

She advises checking essential fluids--power steering, transmission, oil and washer fluid.

says your best bet is avoiding peak travel periods if you can.
