New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - New Haven police are charging a city worker with theft of overtime.

Detectives say a City Hall representative tipped them off to 57-year-old Dennice Pair, an employee of the New Haven Office of Building Inspection.

They say Pair "improperly and fraudulently entered unauthorized overtime for herself into the City payroll system" and paid herself over $11,000 in overtime from July through October of last year without approval.

Pair turned herself in Friday after Mayor Justin Elicker urged her to do so earlier in the day.

She's facing first degree larceny charges.

Bond was set at $5,000.
