NORWALK, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Norwalk High School went into lockdown Wednesday afternoon after city police received a threat notification against the school, following a similar incident that resulted in a lockdown last week.

A juvenile was taken into custody on Wednesday regarding three hoax threatening incidents at Norwalk High School and P-TECH over the last several days, officials announced Thursday.

According to police, Naramake Elementary School and Nathan Hale Middle School were also placed into lockdown as a precautionary measure on Wednesday.

The Norwalk Police Department enlisted the assistance of the FBI to determine the source of the threat, officials said.

While thankful that these incidents have been hoaxes, Rilling said Norwalk education officials are ensuring support systems are in place for students and staff, including counselors and psychologists.

Increased police presence will continue at the school, Chief Thomas Kulhawik said.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact Norwalk police at (203) 854-3000. Anonymous tips can also be sent at (203)-854-3111 or at norwalkpd.com.
