West Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - Come the fall of 2025, Notre Dame High School of West Haven will admit young women students for the first time.
That came down Wednesday when the high school's Board of Corporate Members accepted a recommendation from the Board of Directors.
The high school has been in existence for nearly a century, part of a group of institutions sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross.
Nineteen of 22 such schools are now co-ed.
In a statement posted to Notre Dame's website, school officials said "this decision allows notre dame to sustain and expand its mission and offer the distinctive academic opportunities of a holy cross education to talented young women as well as young men."
