One dead in shooting, crash in Hartford

Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Hartford are investigating a crash and fatal shooting.

Officers said they were alerted via ShotSpotter activation of shots in the area of 115 Zion Street just after 10:00 Thursday night .

An officer traveling westbound on Ward Street noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the opposite direction.

That vehicle hit a parked car and contacted the police cruiser before crashing into the Affleck police substation.

The driver, 25-year-old Daryl Walker Bloomfield, died at the hospital.

The passenger is listed in stable condition.

No officers were injured.

Police say they do have the vehicle involved in the incident and they're working leads to determine motive for the shooting.
