East Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The owner of a popular Hartford-area restaurant is under arrest after East Hartford police say she passed a bad check to purchase restaurant equipment.

Gina Luari, 33, is the owner of The Place 2 Be, with locations in Hartford and West Hartford.

The complaint was first filed in July.

Luari is accused of paying for over $10,000 in equipment from Restaurant Paradise in town by using a bad check.

Police say the check she used was returned due to a closed account and insufficient funds.

Luari is charged with issuing a bad check and larceny.
