(WATERBURY, CONN. WTIC)-A second suspect has been arrested for two shootings in Waterbury last Thursday night that wounded three individuals, including a ten-year old boy.
All three victims received non life-threatening injuries.
In the first incident, an 18-year old female was shot on John Street, police said.
A shooting about an hour later on Congress Avenue wounded a ten year old boy and 21-year old Derek St. Hilaire of Waterbury, officials said. He was arrested last week facing assault and weapons charges.
Waterbury Police have now arrested 18-year old Thomas West. He faces weapons, assault and motor vehicle theft charges. More charges are forthcoming, police said.
According to police, two juveniles were also arrested over the weekend charged with possessing stolen motor vehicle used in the shootings.
"This stems from gang violence. Thomas West is familiar to Waterbury Police. We've seen his acts of violence escalate up unto the point where he's involved in this shooting. This is a lot of what we've talked about going on in our community," Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo said.
West's bond is $900 thousand.
