West Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - The state Office of Inspector General is investigating after a man allegedly shot a West Haven police officer in the leg, and was then killed by return fire from police.
The incident occurred just before 2:00 a.m. Friday.
Officers were called to an apartment building on Terrace Avenue on a report of a domestic incident.
The suspect who was shot was given CPR and aid at the scene, then transported to an area hospital where he later died.
The police officer who was shot was wounded in the leg.
It is believed the officer suffered non life-threatening injuries.
In addition to the inspector general, the Milford state's attorney along with the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crimes Squad are assisting in the investigation.
Names of those involved have not been released.
