Guilford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A North Branford town employee is under arrest in connection with a child pornography investigation in Guilford.
Under arrest is Lauren Smith, 45.
Smith is a library assistant in North Branford, according to her Linkedin account.
Guilford police say in June, they received a tip from an out-of-state law enforcement agency, after which the detective unit launched an investigation into Smith with assistance from the Department of Homeland Security.
A search warrant was issued July 25 for a residence on Flat Iron Road.
Police say it was during that search that they collected evidence which yielded probable cause for an arrest warrant.
Smith was arrested Friday on charges of possession of child pornography.
She's free on $100,000.00 bond and is due in court August 19th.
