
Wallingford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A report from the state inspector general says Wallingford police were justified in their use of force in an incident in town in October of 2023.
Police were called to a North Airline Road home in the wee hours of October 16th, 2023.
The report states that Donald Passmore, 62, shot had himself in a downstairs bedroom.
Officers Robert Bellucci and Gordon McCaskill arrived to find Passmore lying on a bed, intoxicated and despondent.
They spoke to him for several minutes, ordering him not to touch the firearm.
After uttering "one of you is gonna go", the report says Passmore grabbed the gun and pointed it at police.
The officers fired ten rounds.
Passmore was found to be holding a loaded revolver.
He later died at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.
